Subiendo el Volcan Pacaya
Dispatch from Zadi A couple weeks ago we went to Antigua and we climbed an ACTIVE but not super explosive volcano called Pacaya. The rocks are so hot near the top that we roasted marshmallows in the vents near the summit. We didn't go all the way to the top because it's really windy and the volcano is spewing toxic fumes. There is molten lava coming out of the volcano (very slowly) but we didn't get to see it because it's hard to see the glowing red color during the daytime. When we were farther down the mountain we did get to see some of the molten lava but it was very far away. The hike itself wasn't that hard, but we did have to take a few breaks. The path was pretty windy and there were these big holes to catch the water as it came down when it rained so that it didn't wash out the whole path.
