Subiendo el Volcan Pacaya

A couple weeks ago we went to Antigua and we climbed an ACTIVE but not super explosive volcano called Pacaya. The rocks are so hot near the top that we roasted marshmallows in the vents near the summit. We didn't go all the way to the top because it's really windy and the volcano is spewing toxic fumes.
There is molten lava coming out of the volcano (very slowly) but we didn't get to see it because it's hard to see the glowing red color during the daytime.
When we were farther down the mountain we did get to see some of the molten lava but it was very far away.
The hike itself wasn't that hard, but we did have to take a few breaks. The path was pretty windy and there were these big holes to catch the water as it came down when it rained so that it didn't wash out the whole path.
When we got to the top it was really windy and there were very few plants and lots of puppies. It was so foggy we couldn't see the view.
As for the rest of Antigua there was lots of really good food. The bagel place was my favorite - but we don't have a picture of the best BLT bagel in the world! Here's a picture of mama's avocado toast and fried egg at Caoba Farms instead.
We also got to learn how chocolate gets made and we made our own chocolate bars and put in different toppings also.
We also had a fun chicken-bus ride to a macadamia nut farm and had macadamia nut pancakes. Did you know macadamia nut trees aren't from Hawaii? They're from Australia and they live for over a hundred years.
